Lance and I went to the temple today and did sealings. We were lucky to get a sealer who didn't just rush through but took time to teach us. When it was our turn to be the proxy couple, he looked at Lance and said(of course I'm paraphrasing here), "You know, some people think that when they get married in the temple that's it--they've done everything and the work is over. But it's not! Do you remember when you took your beautiful bride through the veil and called her by her new name? Well, that's the way you will call her on the morning of the first resurrection. But guess what? If you haven't treated her with respect, courted her, loved her...she might just choose not to come!"
Then he looked at me and said, "But don't snicker, because you're not off the hook! If you don't treat HIM well, he might not call!"
I've been thinking about that all day and I think it fits perfectly with the story about the silverware. We should be treating those relationships like the most important thing if they're going to last forever!
Sorry for a rambling comment! Happy Anniversary you cute couple!! :)
As usual, what a lovely post!
