What’s a Girl to do?

smitten
I love how this page turned out except with one little exception.  I HATE my handwriting.  So much so that I nearly ripped the journaling tab right off the page.  My handwriting is not messy by any means.  It just looks immature to me. Spencer told me that our kiddos will love to see my handwriting someday, even if I don’t think it’s particularly pretty myself.  I know he’s right.  Still, about 99.9% of the time I type the journaling on my pages.  It just looks so much better.  Any tips/ideas for improving your penmanship would be appreciated.  Can it be changed?  Should it be changed?  Anyone else out there dislike your handwriting?

  1. Oh I love this page SO much! It's too cute! I really like your handwriting! But I understand what you mean cause I hate mine too;) I have the same quandary. Remember when our handwriting was banned at work?! He he he....

  2. I hate my handwriting too, but I'm not sure how to change it at this point. Any advice you get please pass it on!

  3. 1. I'm glad (and a little surprised) to hear that you didn't bite the handwriting off the page. Remember when you ate your Scategories paper? I do.

    2. If you're looking to change your handwriting, I recommend (from personal experience) taking particular notice of what things you like about other people's handwriting. Then try throwing in little things here and there. I remember hating my handwriting in middle school/high school, but a couple of my friends had really great handwriting. I distinctly remember copying the way Dan did his "D"s. I still do them that way. Way cooler. For me it's been a gradual thing, but I'm a lot happier with my handwriting now. Most of the time.

  4. My mother is working on doing my childhood scrapbooks. She used to handwrite the captions but now has gone to printing them out because she hates how her handwriting looks. I've begged her not to change them and to go ahead and keep writing them. It's faster and more memorable. So DON'T CHANGE IT.

When it comes to handwriting...I have like seven different types of handwriting. Much of it comes from my moods or if I've been seeing a lot of someone else's writing, it incorporates into mine. I hold the pen in different ways, at different angles. I used to practice different hand writings a lot. If nothing else, your hand writing often looks significantly different printed, cursive, and then in all caps. So just experiment. :)
